Basic Skills Course Clean Climbing Jura

The Clean Climbing basic course is just the right thing if you want to learn how to use friends, wedges and slings. During the two days, you will learn and consolidate the safe use of these items. On the first day, the training takes place in the climbing garden. You will learn how to place friends and wedges and how to use slings. What are the differences between sport climbing and clean climbing? What do we have to pay special attention to? On the second day, we venture on an  tour with several rope lengths, where we can use friends, wedges and slings.

Day 1: Training in the climbing area "Le Paradis"

We meet at La Heutte train station and make our way to the climbing area "Le Paradis". First we will start with some repetition of the climbing knots, belay technique and climbing movements. Soon we dive into our main subject - placing gear to protect a climb. So we will learn to set friends, wedges and slings correctly to make our climb as safe as possible. Rock quality is also an important topic we will learn about. We climb some single pitches to get used to the new gear and finish the day with an alpine climb with very few protection.

Day 2: Climbing the Brüggligrät

Today we meet in Selzach and hike along the Brügglibach to the start of the Brüggligrät. We divide the group into teams of two and climb the route under supervision of the mountain guide. Every now and then she or he will give instructions about the gear placements to make the climb as safe as possible. This climb is more of an alpine climb with a few bolts to protect from dangerous falls. We climb all the way to the top and enjoy the beautiful view of the alps. The descent is made on foot along tracks and finally the hiking trail back to Selzach.
