Ski Tour Rimpfischhorn
The Rimpfischhorn is a varied skitour - starting as an easy ski ascent and with a steep climb through the summit rocks to finish. The descent from the Rimpfischhorn down to Saas Almagell is very rewarding. Almost 2500 metres in altitude difference awaits, with a few ingenious passages. To ensure this skitour is a success, we start with an introductory tour to the Allalinhorn. This will give us a chance to acclimatize and will make us feel much better on the Rimpfischhorn: allowing us enjoy the climb to the summit of the Rimpfischhorn to its fullest.

Day 1: Summit ski tour to the Allalinhorn 4027 m
After meeting at the bus stop in Saas Fee, we will head over to the cable car station and take the cable car, then the Metro Alpin, to the Mittelallalin 3457m. From here you will already be able to see the summit, but it's a way to go yet. From here we'll attach our skins and start the climb, starting out across the ski slope then later joining the glacier proper. One steep section in particular leads up towards the Feejoch, after this the terrain becomes more mellow, until the final short ascent to the summit. After a decent snack (when the weather is fair) and a good look at the panoramic views, we can tackle the descent, which leads down to Felskinn (middle cable car station). From Felskinn we will again don skins, and make the short, easy traverse over to the Britannia hut.
Day 2: Summit ski tour to the Rimpfischhorn 4199m
An early morning start. After a short descent, we'll begin the long, gentle ascent up the Allalingletscher. After a large flattening, the glacier leads us more steeply up to the Allalinpass 3556m. From here a steady, rising traverse leads round the north side of the mountain, beneath its buttresses, to the Rimpfischsattel 3989m. At the saddle we depot the skis, attach our crampons and enjoy an interesting snow and rock climb to the summit of the Rimpfischhorn 4199 m. After a hunk of bread and Swiss cheese, and a sip of tea, we'll descend back the way we came. From the Rimpfischsattel we will ski down, then back up to Allallinpass. Now an epic descent awaits: We will descend the Allalin glacier until its end, then continue on down the moraines and into the Allalin meadows. Then into the Saasa Vispa and through the Ärnisch forest to Saas Almagell. An excellent 1800m of descent! After a beer in Saas Almagell you can make your way home, tired but happy.
