Overview

Recommended for: Anyone looking for the mountain beyond the postcard.

One of Switzerland's most spectacular ridge hikes. Long, challenging, and breathtakingly beautiful.

The Hardergrat stretches almost 20 kilometers from the first to the last peak. This tour challenges you every step of the way: narrow ridges, steep climbs, a trek that demands endurance. The evening before, we meet at the Brienzer Rothorn. The perfect prelude to a day of hiking across the entire ridge.

Itinerary

Meeting points
Day1
Day 1: Arrival at Brienzer Rothorn
We meet in the evening at the Brienzer Rothorn. The last cogwheel train takes us up, where we discuss the tour over dinner. Afterwards, there's time to enjoy the evening atmosphere. We spend the night in the mountain accommodation – with views of the first peaks we'll cross tomorrow.
Day2
Day 2: The Hardergrat – Up, down, onward
After breakfast, we start the day. The Hardergrat is a constant up and down: over the Tannhorn, the Augstmatthorn, and many other peaks. Sometimes wide, sometimes narrow, sometimes flat, sometimes steep. Always with views of the deep blue Lake Brienz, the Bernese Alps, the hilly Mittelland, and if we're lucky, we might encounter some curious ibex. We take short breaks to enjoy the scenery. After many meters of elevation, we reach the Harder – from where we can take the train down to Interlaken.

Weather info

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
