Overview

Recommended for: Anyone looking for the mountain beyond the postcard.

Long, challenging, breathtaking: The Kingspitze Northeast Face is a demanding climbing tour for true alpinists.

This tour is not a relaxing climbing day. The Northeast Face of the Kingspitze challenges you with long rope lengths, alpine terrain, and a demanding descent. A true classic in the Engelhörner, requiring climbing skills, endurance, and a good dose of adventure spirit.

Approach

Early in the morning we set off: From the parking lot, the path first leads to the Engelhorn Hut. After about 1.5 hours, we reach the hut, take a short break, and then continue into the Ochsental. Here begins the serious approach: Along a gorge-like gully, we work our way to the start of the climbing route.

Climbing Tour

The route itself is demanding and classically alpine. Solid rock, logical lines, and an impressive environment – the Northeast Face delivers what it promises. Rope length by rope length, we gain altitude. The final section leads us along a narrow ridge directly to the summit at 2,621 m (8,599 ft).

Summit

Up there, we enjoy the moment: Surrounded by the other peaks of the Engelhörner, with the vast landscape below us. But the tour is far from over.

Descent

The descent requires full concentration: downclimbing, abseiling, careful steps in challenging terrain. After about two to three hours, we reach the Engelhorn Hut again. Time for a well-deserved drink. Then we descend back to the parking lot.

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
