Founding Assembly
On 6 February 2023, the members of the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association celebrated the 125th anniversary of the association's founding meeting.
30 people came to listen to exciting stories from the past and to exchange ideas while enjoying a delicious aperitif. Marco Bomio and Walter Egger had compiled the history of the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association and guided the guests through the evening.
Between the individual contributions there was enough time for food and drink and a chat here and there. It was a convivial evening in memory of our ancestors who founded the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association on 6 February 1898. In addition to the historical anecdotes, picture and film documents from earlier times were shown and the meeting book of the founding meeting in 1898 was also available.
Last but not least, William Marti and Ruedi Bhend presented the engraved ice axe, which they sent on its journey that evening.
The ice axe will accompany the members of the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association in their anniversary year on guest tours, on trips and on private adventures. We are already looking forward to hearing what the ice axe has to say at the end of the anniversary year.
